Kindergarten kid

So nahla is on her second week of school. So far this is her 3rd full day and she LOVES it. I was nervous she would think it was to long and be tired. Besides a few weeks of summer school this was her first time being in school so eight hours is a long time!

It's quiet at our house. A lot less crying on Lilas part.

Nahla always comes home with the best stories and we have a pretty long walk from the bus stop in comparison to the other kids so I get to hear all about it. One thing we adopted at dinner about a year ago is called roses and thorns. You go around the table and tell your best part of the day and your worst. It was an easy way for robbie to get to hear what happened during the day and it helped Lila practice talking. So now I ask her that on her way back from the bus as well. (Nahlas worst part of the day usually is that "the day is going to end")

It's been weird to have her gone for such a long time without an update about what's going on. I keep getting the feeling I need to check on her, but obviously I can't lol.

She loves her teacher and likes her class. She gets to do show and tell every Friday. She had her first one this past week and brought in a music box robbie picked up from goodwill that he couldn't end up selling. She practiced her "speech" on Robbie's friend and us the night before. It was super cute and she said it went well. I was afraid with common core going on that kindergarten was going to be a lot different then what I remembered, but she seems to be doing a lot of projects and playing which makes me happy. They go out for recess 2 times she says even if it's "really hot and sweaty and her underwear stick to her butt" lol

I'm so relieved she loves school. Every morning she's waiting by the door long before Lila and I are ready to walk to the bus. She always walks about 5 steps ahead of us the entire way to the stop.

My only scare happened last Friday. As we were waiting for all the kids to get off the bus nahla didn't come. I went up to the driver and he called her to the front. Nothing....for what felt like 5 min. My stomach dropped. And then he's like here she comes. I asked her why she didn't get off and she said a boy was sitting by the window so she couldn't see the traffic. (This was the worst part of her day that day) mine too haha..

  2. We do something like your roses as well. Each night before we pray we go around and say what was the best and what was the worst thing we did that day. Sometimes after doing something good, Bryton says, "Maybe that was the best thing I did today!" It helps me too to make better decisions so I don't have to report that I yelled or what have you.
