So we just got back from our 5 year anniversary trip! It was fabulous. We booked last month last minute and scrambled to get the cash ready, but it was so worth it. When we got married we took a honeymoon in Fort Lauderdale Florida. In honor of that fabulous time I booked a cruise leaving Fort Lauderdale so we could experience it all over again. We flew in a day early and stayed at the same hotel, Fort Lauderdale beach resort hilton. It was so fun to go backs after 5 years. Basically everything was the same. We lounged on the beach and went down to get some tasty burgers from a place we had visited on our last trip. The next morning robbie and I headed over to port Everglades to board our ship. Neither of us have been on a cruise before or out of the country so it was a whole new adventure. We boarded the celebrity century. Their ship was fabulous and I would totally sail with them again. They had an all natural spa cafe that robbie and I hit up for lunch. We had time to explore the ship before we departed. We wanted to watch the ship depart so we waited on the top deck around 4:30. Unfortunately the ship was late departing and it started pouring. We sat under the glass for as long as we could until water started spilling in getting us all wet. So use went to dinner and checked out the casino. We did some quarter slots and played 3 card poker which was fun. Of course we didn't win anything, do you ever at a casino lol.
The next morning we arrived in Nassau Bahamas. I had really looked up the cheapest and best things to do. So we started walking 5 miles right to the zoo. We walked into inner Nassau neighborhoods and that made us a little nervous, just not knowing where we were safety wise. We made in to the zoo in one piece and went to watch the march of the flamingos. They had trained the flamingos for the show and it was so fun. I got to go in the arena and take pictures with them, some were are old as 46. After that we went to Feed the birds. So fun! We loved that part. The zoo was full of animals that were native to the Bahamas so that was nice to see all the local animals. We picked up some straw handmade baskets for the girls. The woman had weaved in cinderella's face on both baskets and out their name on each one. Totally cute. After that we headed to the public junkarro beach. We only got to stay for about 15 min until it started raining. We went over to the straw market and I can tell you we are some good bargainers. We got awesome stuff for next to nothing. Once we got back on the ship it was formal night, we basically just hung out and ate dinner.
The next morning we woke up in cococay. It's a private island owned by the cruise line. I again researched this so I knew exactly which part of the island was the best. We took a nature trail over to barefoot beach which was empty! We had so much fun. We picked up tons of shells for the girls and just hung out.
The next morning we arrived in Fort Lauderdale again. We had a late flight so we decided to do an excursion to the Everglades. Robbie has always wanted to go on an airboat so we had to check it off his list! It was super fun! We saw tons of alligators, even got to hold one! We took about a 45 min boat ride, and those boats can go fast! It was beyond fun.
What a great way to spend valentines day and our anniversary!!!
