Watched some awesome movies lately! Tonight our streak ran a little dry with mud. It was alright, just some inconsistencies with the story that seemed off.
Robbie and I like true detective a lot. I suggest you watch it if you Haven't seen it. Since Matthew mcconghey is great in it we thought we would give mud a shot. He does take off his shirt but that's expected since its in his contract.
The movie involves 2 young boys around 14 (which are played well by some child actors) in Arkansas. They come across mud on an island in the river and help him fix up a boat so he can run away with the girl of his dreams. Police are involved and there's a bit of mystery. To keep from spoiling I won't go further. Here's my issues with the story line
1. Mud wears this white shirt that always protects him he says. Granted he's a little weird but what powers does this magical shirt possess and why does he choose to take it off.
2. He begs the boys to bring him food to the island which he needs desperately. Yet somehow he has an unlimited amount of cigarettes. Where do these come from? He smokes at least a pack a day. Does he have a year supply?
3. He's so in love with this girl that he goes to great lengths to save her. Yet within about 10 min at the end of the movie he's fine with leaving her. Soo you just go around committing felonies for anyone?
4. These guys are after mud for revenge but we have no idea who they are! This isn't explained well if at all. Are they part of a mob? From what he said they own a hotel chain. I'm supposed to believe the owners of a holiday inn are going around exacting revenge via murder. Tough sell for a group committed to the service industry.
5. His tattoos look like they are drawn on with a pen. Why? Why are they so bad? It took me half the movie to realize that a huge one was supposed to be a snake. That's what tattoo removal is for.
Mud why did you not connect the dots. You had the makings of a good story but decided to throw it away.
I have been checking your blog for months, and I can't believe I missed these two posts! I must have finally given up lol. I remember watching Mud, but I don't remember much about it. I remember liking it for the most part, but being kind of confused or something. It was romantic that he was doing so much to get her back, but yeah, in the end, I think I just felt bad for him? I don't even remember. I think McConaughey has become a much better actor than he was before, or at least being a little more picky with his roles...
