I cannot get over lately how lucky i am to have robbie. Sorry if this is totally mushy, but i feel like we finally got settled in to living together.
Anyone that has ever lived with a significant lover can agree its HARD. I mean you originally move in or marry this person because you think despite their flaws they are perfect! and they think the same thing about you! Although you may think they are right.
All of a sudden your perfect human specimen has morphed into this moving trash receptacle leaving dirt and grime behind with no knowledge. Instead of sharing sweet date memories you are sharing a bathroom that requires a gas mask upon entrance. Sharing everything isn't cute anymore..who really wants to be on bowl cleanup duty when your other half has the flu?
Suddenly you have a lot of decisions to make, who is going to go grocery shopping, who cleans what, am i responsible for your laundry? As garbage bags are piling up at the door you are stealing glances at each other waiting for someone to respond to the growing compost pile.
I immediately thought i was in charge of laundry and making dinner..because i was the girl. So i took on the roll, i like cooking and laundry was sort of a at least i don't have to take out the trash.
We would have arguments about my cleanliness verse his..until we both got so fed up with the arguments that we are completely content.
Sure his beard shavings cover my freshly cleaned sink and he may have to look at tampons exploding out of the bathroom garbage. But we are too happy just being together to care anymore.
Thank goodness our first year is over...oh and our second one two. I guess we were stubborn :)
hahahaha! after so many of these stories, one of the first things we did was layout expectations and chores lol. i hate taking out the trash. plus, i'm super lucky he grew up in you guys' house where everything had to be super clean. sometimes i wonder if he's cleaner than me...
ReplyDeleteI'm def. more OCD about keeping stuff clean and organized than Paul. I do pretty much all the cleaning, because Paul doesn't get bothered by things being all over the place, or dirt, he can let it go much longer than I can. I used to clean his apt in Milwaukee when I went to visit just cause I couldn't stand it looking that way haha! I try to comprise..but there's only so long I can step over shoes littering the floor, walk past used cup just sitting on the table, or piles of clothes next to the bed hah!
